Three (3) Reasons Your Audience
Won't Stay Motivated
The reason companies hire motivational speakers is to motivate their employees to accomplish a personal or professional goal. However, typically the motivation is a one time, hour-long presentation at a national conference or fiscal year kick-off. We have all been to these events - the speakers are great; they pump us up; we jump a plane; go home and share our enthusiasm with our families; and by time Monday rolls around we have lost the energy. The message simply wasn't sustainable. Here are three reasons your audience will lose motivation over time:
- No Process
Simply looking in the mirror and reciting a few words of encouragement every morning is not enough to become inspired. To make lasting personal or professional change you must follow a proven and repeatable methodology. A defined process for managing change will not only help the employee stay on track, but it will also provide a common language for managers or mentors to help them accomplish their established goals.
- No Continuing Education
A lasting change cannot occur after only an hour of getting "pumped up". Lasting change requires continual reinforcement and training. And the training is not just for management - the training should be for every employee that is striving for change.
- No Management Support
Employees want leadership - one that sets an example, provides a vision and recognizes those individuals or groups that are succeeding. Most employees will execute to the direction provided by their direct manager. If the priorities of that manager do not include continual employee development or coaching then the employees will lose the motivation established by the motivational speaker - making achievement of their goals nearly impossible.
